The Ministry of Health said both parties need screening for hereditary blood disorders and infectious diseases before the marriage contract. Tests taken abroad must be done at an accredited institution and attested by that institution, the health authority of that country, and Oman’s Foreign Ministry.
Applicants then visit one of 40 approved government health institutions across the 11 governorates. Staff check the results, record them, and give premarital counselling. The ministry said this arrangement continues until screening is available on the electronic health platform. The steps are those stated in the Times of Oman report.
