The Delegation of the European Union and EU embassies organised the festival with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Oman Film Society, the International Film Foundation of Oman, Cinépolis Cinemas Oman, and Nikon. Twenty films from nine member states were shown, and Times of Oman reported that more than 1,000 people attended.

A short-film competition was added this year. The report named Waham, directed by Issa Al Sushi, as best film; Forbidden Flowers, directed by Dalila Ali, as best director; Higuita, directed by Nilanjana Sha, as best storyline; and The Search, by Anirban Ray, as the audience award. EU ambassador Christophe Farnaud said the festival has become an established tradition in Oman.
