Sur is known for its dhow-building coast and for Ras al Hadd and Ras al Jinz, where green turtles come ashore to nest. Jaalan Bani Bu Ali is the coastal Jaalan wilayat, and Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan is the inland Jaalan wilayat, each with its fort.

Al Kamil wal Wafi joins two towns in one inland wilayat between Ibra’s country and the coast. Masirah is the island wilayat offshore, not a neighborhood of Sur.

The published wilayats are Wilayat Al Kamil Wal Wafi, Wilayat Jalan Bani Bu Ali, Wilayat Jalan Bani Bu Hassan, Wilayat Masirah and Wilayat Sur.
