Al Wusta is sparsely settled. Haima stands inland on the highway that links the north to Dhofar. Duqm is the dry coastal port and special economic zone, not a neighborhood of Haima.

Mahout faces the wetlands of Barr al Hikman. Al Jazer is the coastal wilayat between Mahout and Duqm. Neither inherits a description from the other.

The published wilayats are Wilayat Al Jazer, Wilayat Duqm, Wilayat Haima and Wilayat Mahout.
